The Philippines known as the Republic of the Philippines, is a sovereign island country in Southeast Asia situated in the western Pacific Ocean. It consists of 7,107 islands that are categorized broadly under three main geographical divisions: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Its capital city is Manila while its most populous city is Quezon City; both are part of Metro Manila.

Geography:

To the north of the Philippines across the Luzon Strait lies Taiwan; Vietnam sits west across the South China Sea; southwest is the island of Borneo across the Sulu Sea, and to the south the Celebes Sea separates it from other islands of Indonesia; while to the east it is bounded by the Philippine Sea and the island-nation of Palau. At approximately 300,000 square kilometres (115,831 sq miles), the Philippines is the 64th-largest country in the world.

Population:

With a population of about 100 million people, the Philippines is the seventh-most populated country in Asia and the 12th most populated country in the world. An additional 12 million Filipinos live overseas, comprising one of the world's largest diasporas.

Climate:

The Philippines has a tropical maritime climate and is usually hot and humid. There are three seasons: the hot dry season or summer from March to May; the rainy season from June to November; the cool dry season from December to February. The average yearly temperature is around 26.6 °C. Cities: Metro Manila is the most populous of the 12 defined metropolitan areas in the Philippines and the 11th most populous in the world. As of the 2007 census, it had a population of 11,553,427, comprising 13% of the national population.

Languages:

The most widely spoken languages are English and Tagalog. People in Metro Manila mainly speak the Filipino language which is a standardized version of Tagalog. Other languages spoken are Cebuano, Ilokano, Hiligaynon and Bikol.

Literacy rate:

According to the Philippines National Statistics Office, Philippines has a literacy rate of 97.5%.

Structure of the Course

  • According to MCI guild lines, passing 12th is mandatory with minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together
  • Will have to first enrol in the pre-medical course, the duration of which is 12/14 months
  • The Pre-medical course will be either an AB psychology or BS biology
  • After completing the pre-medical course the students will be enrolled for 4 years MD programme
  • NMAT score minimum 40 percentile
  • Students who completed graduation in abroad can go directly to medical school after clearing NMAT

Fees Structure

Philippines University charge low fees from students as the countries government has subsided the fee making it easy for students to reduce their financial burden. For the 1st three years the annual fees is around 3 lacs Peso and for the next two years it is 1.5 lacs Peso.

The Student needs to bare an additional fee of Rs. 12000 for food and accommodation on monthly basis.
